Ever since switching to interactive journals for my science, social studies, and part of my language arts lessons I’ve noticed a huge increase in student engagement, and a decrease in my “to be graded” pile! Here are some of the reasons I love interactive journals: All students work is kept in one organized journal. Quick assessment and grading – students show me their journal once they are done and I quickly enter their score in my grading system. Fine motor skills practice – anytime you can add some into the schedule is beneficial. Easy end of the year organization – send home the journal for parents to view student progress.
